Dagmar Havlova´s visit to Japan

In 1999, the Czech president´s wife, Dagmar Havlova, took part in the Festival of Czech culture in Japan, which was held under her and princess Sayako´s auspices. On this occasion the representatives of the Japanese-Czech and Czech-Japanese association gave Mrs. Havlova the translation of the book by Her Higness Empress Michiko - First time in the mountains - that was sponsored by the Grand Master of Urasenke tea school, Sen Soshitsu XV.

On October 24, Mrs. Havlova visited the seat of the Grand Master, Konnichian in Kyoto where a tea ceremony was held in her honour. After the ceremony the Grand Master served ceremonial dinner. The peak of the feast was fish called "fugu", that, if not correctly prepared, can be dangerous to life.

The Grand Master presented not only interesting and specific features of Japanese cuisine but spoke also about his experience of an Olympic champion in long jump and about experiences of flying planes of various types.
